This year we made the exciting decision to visit Iceland, with the goal of experiencing its nature and landscape in the middle of summer, arguably its most popular time to visit — and as we discovered, definitely one of the prettiest.
We should have expected it ahead of time, but booking places to stay quickly began to become a challenging as our goal was to circumnavigate the majority of Iceland, meaning we would need several places to stay, and with some regions being remote, alongside the popularity of the season, it meant we were limited on our options for booking.
A tip for anyone planning a trip to Iceland in the Summer. Start planning and booking your trip six months ahead of time!
That being said, every place we did end up staying was amazing and we enjoyed our journey throughout the island. I hope you too can experience a visit to Iceland in person, and if not, then I hope this post will at least give you a glimpse and allow you to experience it through our journey.
We did a lot on this trip so it’s broken up into several posts which I’ll be adding over time. Check the whole list out here below. If the link isn’t there yet, the next post hasn’t been published.

- Into the Eastfjords: Puffins, Abandoned Ships, and the Seven-Tiered Klifbrekkufossar
- North Iceland: Basalt Canyons, Whale Watching, and the Waterfall of the Gods
- The Return, Snæfellsnes, and the Unexpected Detour
