From shortage of toilet paper to virtual gatherings, the Coronavirus surely changes every aspect of our lives. It changes what we eat when the meat packaging industry is impacted by a high infection rate due the nature of their working environment. So what do you eat when pork and beef are scarce?
For our family, our recent favorite is quail❤️. We especially love the tenderness and flavor of the legs. Here’s the recipe. Give it a try!
Serving size: 6
Ingredient
- 6 quail, wash and cut the quail open from the chest line
- 1 finger size ginger, sliced
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of five-spice powder
- 2 tablespoon of light soy sauce
- half tablespoon of dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of cooking wine
- half tablespoon of sesame oil
- honey
- salt
Cooking Steps
- Wash and cut the quail open from the chest line.
- Mix well ginger, green onion, five spice powder, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, cooking wine and sesame oil in a bowl. Taste and add salt if necessary.
- Marinate the quail with sauce mixture for at least an hour, or overnight if you like to meal prep for the next day.
- Preheat the oven to 400F
- Bake the quail for 15 minutes and take it out to brush it with a layer of honey
- Bake the quail for another 10 minutes and let the honey glaze
- Enjoy them while warm 😋
